Editing Practise

Creating a scene from a storyboard
-The Appointment

- I became more familiar with shooting with a camera (despite it being on my phone), considering framing and angle. Although this is very short, I am reasonably happy with the outcome, and have learned to not stand so close, as the editing software I used has black bars around the edge of the screen as a result of the vertical shooting of the camera - this meant the footage was made bigger than intended. I removed two shots as I felt they weren't necessary, and the story can be conveyed easier this way. I could have improved on my composition choices, and thought about lingering the shots for as long as possible as they can be edited shorter post-production.

Comments

  1. The sequencing is fine - a narrative thread is implied - but I find some of the early edits a bit jarring - too elliptical. The hardest one on the spectator is between shot 2 and shot 3 - too much time is missing. Shot 2, the OSS, is really nice. Except for the rudimentary error of the camera being visible in a reflection - watch out for this one in future as it's a bit of a beginner's classic.
